A new analysis provides a comprehensive overview of competitive research funding across the Danish research landscape.
The Danish Research Landscape – An Analysis of Competitive Research Funding maps how funding awarded through an open application process is distributed across funding bodies, grant types and research areas in Denmark.
The analysis was conducted by independent researchers at the Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy at Aarhus University and funded by ten public and private research funding bodies, including the LEO Foundation.
About the analysis
The analysis covers competitive research funding in Denmark from 2018 to 2024. Its dataset comprises approximately 18,000 research grants with a total value of more than DKK 83 billion.
In addition to mapping funding across research areas, academic disciplines, funding bodies and grant types, the analysis maps the researcher population, making it possible to examine research funding in relation to the number of researchers within different areas.
The analysis was funded by: Independent Research Fund Denmark, Danish National Research Foundation, Innovation Fund Denmark, Augustinus Foundation, Carlsberg Foundation, LEO Foundation, Lundbeck Foundation, Novo Nordisk Foundation, VELUX FONDEN and Villum Foundation.
