Making a difference worldwide

The LEO Foundation’s main objective is to own, operate and develop LEO Pharma as an independent and research based healthcare company. The LEO Foundation holds all the shares in LEO Pharma and is fully independent from heirs, outside shareholders and other interests.

The LEO Foundation was established in 1984 by Dr.h.c. Knud E. Abildgaard, the owner of LEO Pharma. He did so with the specific intent of ensuring LEO Pharma its future as an independent, research-based healthcare company.

The Foundation’s secondary objective is to support research within medicine, pharmacy and chemistry.

At the LEO Foundation, we believe that we with our grants are able to make a significant contribution to promoting dermatological research worldwide – research that may otherwise find it difficult to attract funds, especially in competition with other, more high-profile medical specialties.
